Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I re-set my Skybox?

A. To change the default transponder settings you will need to access the hidden "INSTALLERS SETUP"  menu.

First press the “SERVICES" button on your sky remote and then press "4" to access the "SYSTEM SETUP". Although it is not displayed, you will need to press "0" then "1" then “SELECT” to access the "INSTALLERS SETUP" menu. Afterwards press "2" to enter "DEFAULT TRANSPONDER".

The display will then show from top to bottom:

Frequency

Polarization

Symbol Rate (Mbaud)

FEC

Save new settings

Select "Frequency GHz “and by typing in the relevant numbers, change the setting from 11.778 to 11.740. The "POLARIZATION" setting should already be set to "V" and will not have changed. When these changes have been made you will need to "SAVE NEW SETTINGS" at the bottom of the screen.

To exit, press the Sky button on your remote. After 30 seconds your box will display Sky channel 998 (no satellite signal being received). Now type in 501 and your Sky news station will display.

You are now back in service.

Will you be able to get local channels as well as British TV in Tenerife?

Yes you can get local channels with satellite television. You can get the service through your satellite provider for a very small fee or you can hook a separate antenna to the receiver.

Will you be able to get different programs on different televisions¨

Yes, to do this you will need to get a separate receiver for each television in your Tenerife home.

Will I need a viewing card?

Yes you will, all cards are available from our home page.

Will I be able to get satellite TV in an apartment?

Yes, the apartment may charge you an additional deposit for having a dish but they can not prevent you from having satellite TV. Visit the FCC website for further information and laws. You must of course have an apartment with a balcony that faces the south to receive satellite signals.

Will bad weather affect satellite TV reception?

Heavy rain or snow can cause a brief interruption of the satellite signal. Outages are usually brief and reception will return as soon as the rain or snow lightens. Outages are usually very rare when the satellite has been installed properly.
